The Nonce - 1990 CS

The Nonce - 1990
Family Groove, 1990/2018

Previously unheard and unknown 1990 recordings from The Nonce, who would later gain fame as part of Los Angeles' Project Blowed collective and with the underground hit "Mixtapes." The duo was just seventeen during these sessions and very much still trying to find their voices but that's part of its charm. These are very enthusiastic De La Soul / Native Tongues fans, in the studio for the first time and repeatedly running down the "Plug Tunin" rhyme pattern as if it was the Migos flow. Remastered by Kamal Humphrey (Radioinactive) and it sounds astonishingly good, better and fuller than many major label rap albums from that era.
